Duas estreias, Dois Grandes álbuns

Abençoado site que me deu a conhecer os dois melhores álbuns do ano até à data, a par de "Beach Dream" dos Beach House .

O site: Pitchfork, para não variar...

Os álbuns:

 "Astro Coast" - Surfer Blood (16/20)

O 1.º resulta numa das mais enérgicas revelações dos últimos tempos, no que a feel-good-Rock respeita e está recheado de grandes músicas que entoamos repetidamente.

O video que posto corresponde ao single de avanço que, não obstante não corresponder a uma das melhores músicas do álbum, tem um refrão bastante forte e permite dar uma pequena ideia do que falo.
Nota: Pitchfork: 8.2/10

"Gorilla Manor"- Local Natives (17/20)

O 2.º é o que seria eventualmente o disco que os Grizzly Bear ou os Fleet Foxes fariam caso optassem por um ritmo mais acelerado ou por vezes mais roqueiro. 

O resultado é surpreendente e aconselho vivamente.

The Hurt Locker (Estado de Guerra) triunfa nos BAFTAS

Se os Óscares deste ano forem consonantes com a generalidade dos Prémios de crítica especializada já atríbuidos, então 2010 será o ano de The Hurt Locker e, na batalha dos ex.s, Ms Bigelow levará a melhor sobre o ex-marido, James Cameron e o Blockbuster Avatar que apenas saiu vitorioso na cerimonia dos Globos de Ouro...

Os Filmes dos Óscares: A Serious Man / Um Homem Sério

O MELHOR: todos os louros vão neste campo para a interpretação de Michael Stuhlbarg - pena que o filme não esteja à mesma altura.

O PIOR: o argumento pouco original e simplista.

VEREDICTO: o último filme da dupla que nos deu grandes filmes como "Fargo" é simpático e vê-se bem mas longe está da genialidade de outrora - e não se percebe bem porque consta na lista dos nomeados para melhor filme do ano quando pérolas como "(500) Days of Summer" ficaram de fora...

Tal como o personagem que lhe dá vida, apresenta-se como um filme vulgar e desprovido de qualquer tipo de singularidade ou impacto. É apenas mais um filme, tal como o personagem é apenas mais um cidadão comum, sem nada de extraordinário e que se confunde na multidão.

Os Filmes dos óscares: DISTRICT 9

O MELHOR: num filme tão equilibrado como este torna-se dificil diferenciar a parte do todo - exactamente porque em District 9 tudo é muito bom! Da realização aos efeitos especiais passando pela interpretação do actor principal, montagem, fotografia e sem esquecer o [notável] argumento - tudo, mas mesmo tudo, é digno de destaque.

O PIOR: nada de relevante a assinalar mas tendo de o fazer talvez destaque algumas falas mais lamechas ou eventualmente o aspecto low-budget dos aliens. Mas, reforço, nada de muito significativo.

VEREDICTO: D9 é para mim um dos melhores filmes do ano passado a par de Inglorious Basterds e UP.

É daqueles filmes que nos ficam na memória pelo impacto que provocam e cujas imagens retemos durante algum tempo.

Empolgante e ritmado consegue a rara proeza de se incluir na selecta categoria de blockbuster inteligente . o que, desde logo, o torna num filme de visão obrigatória - de preferência no cinema.

Coliseu rendido ao vozeirão de Ms Stone

Uma grande confirmação: Ms Stone tem de facto uma voz incrível [uma das melhores que ouvi ao vivo] e a prova ao vivo apenas demonstra que não é mais um resultado de produção de estúdio.

Apresentou-se contagiantemente simpática e cool - atitude que conquistou o público do Coliseu [a rebentar pelas costuras] desde, literalmente, a primeira música e durante todo o concerto, - chegando as palmas a ser verdadeiramente ensurdecedoras.

Pessoalmente não sou grande fã de algumas músicas da menina mas fiquei completamente rendido à sua voz, presença, sensualidade e empatia.

Momentos mais altos: "4 and 20" e "Supper Dupper Love"

Inicio hoje a revisão dos 10 filmes nomeados na respectiva categoria de Melhor do Ano.

Em alguns casos, como o presente, a análise será postada pela 1ª vez no OC, em outros apenas remeto para links contendo a opinião passada e já publicada.

1.º The Hurt Locker / Estado de Guerra de Kathryn Bigelow

O MELHOR

a estonteante, máscula e enérgica realização de Kathryn Bigelow que este ano TEM de vencer o óscar de Melhor Realizadora. Se tal não suceder será a injustiça cinematográfica do ano!

O PIOR

o argumento poderá ser considerado por alguns como relativamente limitado e simples, dada a opção da realizadora por criar uma obra mais física e com poucos dialógos.

VEREDICTO

o melhor filme sobre a guerra dos últimos tempos apresenta-se com doses impressionantes de suspense e tensão e brinda-nos com uma das melhores realizações da actualidade - o realismo electrizante, fisico e hiperbólico de Ms Bigelow é portentoso e no mínimo notável. 

O filme fala-nos daqueles que com a Guerra têm uma relação de dependência, encarando-a como uma "droga" e sem a qual as suas vidas não fazem sentido mas que, e exactamente por isso, têm a respectiva consciência entumescida pela adrenalina que esta provoca ao ponto de não saberem nem entenderem minimamente o que estão ali a fazer...

"Precious" e o cinema indie-realista norte americano

O MELHOR

a interpretação de Mo´nique, no papel da mãe de Precious e que caminha a largos passos para o óscar de melhor actriz secundária.

O PIOR

independentemente de retratar uma cruel realidade, o argumento - por não trazer nada de novo e longe de ser original - deveria ser mais denso e complexo, correndo deste modo o risco de ser visto por muitos como "a história da coitadinha"

O VEREDICTO

em teoria, das duas uma: ou se adora "Precious" por este simbolizar o cinema indie-realista americano ou se o considera como a história-da-coitadinha-à-qual-tudo-acontece-mas-que-continua-a-sonhar.

Na prática, inclino-me para o meio termo.

"Precious" não é de todo um grande filme como a crítica internacional nos levou a pensar mas também não é mau, longe disso.

É um filme consistente, equilibrado e com boas interpretações mas longe do bom realismo europeu  [vem-me logo à cabeça Mike Leigh por exemplo] - neste campo somos imbatíveis. 

Não obstante, é de louvar a tentativa.

Hot 100 Peak: 1 for four wks (9/30/1978)

This late-'70s hit anticipates a couple's many hours of creative lovemaking. Even more creative was the Canadian Broadcasting Company's use of the song in a 2007 montage of hockey players kissing the Stanley Cup. (Yeah, we suppose that's one thing to do with it.)

Sexiest lyric: "Gonna wrap my arms around you, hold you close to me/ Oh, babe, I wanna taste your lips, I wanna fill your fantasy"

Like A Virgin

Madonna
Hot 100 Peak: 1 for six wks
(12/22/1984)

The idea of a woman named Madonna singing about being "touched for the very first time" was titillating, for sure. But Bible-Belters lost their minds when the suggestive song began racing up the '80s charts, fearing their children would fall prey to Madge's naughty innuendos and arousing imagery. Guess what? We did.

Sexiest lyric: "Oooh, like a virgin/ Feels so good inside"

Do That To Me One More Time

Captain & Tennille
Hot 100 Peak: 1 (2/16/1980)

The Captain and Tennille returned to the top of the charts with this simple-yet-subtle ode to male virility; a sweet-sounding song that also succinctly summed up wild and loose ways of the 1970s.

Sexiest lyric: "Do that to me one more time/ Once is never enough with a man like you"

Hot Stuff

Donna Summer
Hot 100 Peak: 1 for three wks (6/2/1979)

"Hot Stuff" won Donna Summer the 1980 Grammy for Best Female Rock Vocal Performance, but all she really needed in her bedroom was some action. The song made a memorable comeback in 1997's "The Full Monty," but it has remained a hot 'n' bothered anthem on retro dancefloors for years.

Sexiest lyric: "Wanna share my love with a warm blooded lover/ Wanna bring a wild man back home"

Let's Get It On

Marvin Gaye
Hot 100 Peak: 1 for two wks (9/8/1973)

Marvin Gaye's sweetly soulful voice was an aphrodisiac in and of itself; thus, he rarely resorted to subtleties when it came to his lyrics. "Let's Get It On" remains one of the most blatant sex songs of all time; the soul-music equivalent of a sure thing.

Sexiest lyric: "Don't you know how sweet and wonderful life can be?/ I'm asking you, baby, to get it on with me"

Next
Hot 100 Peak: 1 for five wks (4/25/1998)

The Minneapolis trio could barely contain its excitement on this raunchy track. R.L, Terry and Raphael moan and groan about their female dance partner's "grindin'" and "shakin'" -- and their respective bulges as a result -- atop a Chicago-style step dance production. Hopefully, the men made it off the dancefloor without any vasocongestion (look it up).

Sexiest lyric: "Baby when we're grinding, I get so excited/ Ooh, how I like it, I try but I can't fight it"

Hot 100 Peak: 1 for 14 wks (8/27/1994)

Although more polite with its sexual innuendos than other early-'90s baby-makin' tracks, the Philly quartet hit all the right spots with this chart-topping ballad. Some lyrics are so subdued, in fact, that the penguins from the 2006 animated film "Happy Feet" used them for a "heartsong." How ... cute?

Sexiest lyric: "Throw your clothes, on the floor/ I'm gonna take my clothes off too/ I made plans to be with you"

Using his pack-a-day croon to maximum effect, Mr. Sexy is anything but coy in this ballad about getting his "virgin child" a nice big drink, helping her off with her dress and sweet talking her into her first time. From the woman moaning in French at song's end -- a cameo by Stewart's then-girlfriend, Bond girl Britt Ekland -- tonight was, apparently, the night.

Sexiest lyric: "You'd be a fool to stop this tide/ Spread your wings and let me come inside"

While the well-known video features Olivia Newton-John working out at a gym, the song "Physical" touts the benefits of a different kind of workout. The 1982 hit was so suggestive that it was banned by many radio stations across the globe -- as well as the entire country of South Africa. But the not-so-innocent Australian girl-next-door scored the biggest hit of the '80s and proved, once and for all, that sex sells ... mountains of records, that is.

Sexiest lyric: "I took you to an intimate restaurant, then to a suggestive movie/ There's nothing left to talk about unless it's horizontally"

Eu vou!

A Diva norte-americana Alicia Keys, regressa ao Pavilhão Atlântico - sala que esgotou em 2008 - para um concerto único no dia 29 de Abril, onde irá apresentar o novo álbum, "The Elements of Freedom", editado no final do ano passado.
O quarto álbum de originais, que sucedeu aos aclamados, "Songs in a Minor", "The Diary of Alicia Keys" e "As I Am", entrou directamente para o segundo lugar do top nos Estados Unidos, tendo vendido mais de 400 mil cópias na primeira semana.
Com apenas 28 anos, Alicia Keys já conquistou 12 Grammys e vendeu mais de 30 milhões de álbuns, consagrando-a como uma das mais importantes artistas da sua geração. Dia 29 de Abril regressa ao Pavilhão Atlântico para um grande espectáculo. Eu vou!

Um pequeno aperitivo...

Pelo título deveria ter imaginado...

O MELHOR: o elenco, teoricamente... 

O PIOR: aqui até é dificil escolher mas opto pelo argumento,  desengracadamente  disparatado.

VEREDICTO: sinceramente até pensei que iria gostar...pensei que talvez fosse daqueles filmes relativamente nonsense mas que até tem a sua graça exactamente por isso - e em especial quando o elenco se apresentava bastante apelativo.
Expectativa conplemente gorada diga-se em abono da verdade.
O filme é uma palermice pegada [como já deveria ter presumido pelo título...] e o argumento nonsense não tem a minima piada - nem sequer vontade de rir provoca.
Em suma, totalmente dispensável e um absoluto desperdício de talentos.

The Men who Stare at Goats / Homens que Matam Cabras só com o Olhar - 9 / 20

Nota: Metacritic 54 / 100

"Tudo pode dar Certo" de Woody Allen

O MELHOR: o argumento bem escrito e suculento de Allen e a interpretação da sempre excelente Patricia Clarkson;

O PIOR: Larry David [o alter ego de Allen no filme], que mesmo com um texto extremamente engraçado, não me convenceu de todo no papel do protagonista rezingão e "pessimista" -  mais depressa via por exemplo Hugh Laurie [Dr. House] no seu papel;

TRIVIA: "Tudo pode dar Certo" tem por ponto de partida um texto de stand up que Allen escreveu para Zero Mostel nos anos 70 mas que acabou por nunca ver a luz do dia;

VEREDICTO: "Tudo pode dar Certo" pode estar longe dos melhores de Allen [onde se encontram verdeiras obras primas como "A Rosa Purpura do Cairo" ou "Balas sobre a Broadway"] mas não deixa de ser um filme que se vê bastante bem e com agrado, com um argumento muito bom e que cumpre perfeitamente o objectivo do entretenimento inteligente.

E  como é bom ainda existirem filmes que duram só uma hora e meia!

Whatever Works / Tudo pode dar Certo - 13.5/20

Nota: Metacritic 45/100 

The Road: o apocalipse de Viggo Mortensen

O MELHOR: a portentosa interpretação de Viggo Mortensen, uma das melhores do ano transacto e injustamente esquecida nas nomeções para os óscares do corrente ano; a banda sonora; a subtileza da realização

O PIOR: o ritmo lento e a escassez de personagens e acção poderá funcionar como soporífero para alguns espectadores...

TRIVIA: baseado no romance homónimo, best-seller mundial e vencedor do Pulitzer Prize;

de modo a transmitir a ideia de destruição e apocalipse, parte das cenas foram filmadas em Nova Orleães nas zonas devastadas pelo furacão Katrina

VEREDICTO: The Road/A Estrada é um road-movie inspirado e com toques poéticos da jornada de um Pai e um Filho ao percorrerem uma América pós-apocaliptica, impiedosa e desumana e onde o canibalismo é pratica generalizada.  

Pode não ser excepcional mas resulta numa obra bem conseguida sobre sobrevivência e humanidade e traz-nos um  [cadavérico] Mortensen verdadeiramente marcante.
